About John Sadlon

A licensed architect with more than 25 years of experience, John is a leader within the New York design & construction industry. He provides strategic vision and relationship management, focused on a client-centric service model that balances design aesthetics with construction pragmatics. His broad expertise includes work with clients across the financial, legal, insurance, non-profit, media and technology sectors. John excels at translating his clients’ organizational goals into long-term real estate strategies that adapt to evolving needs and priorities. Risk mitigation and consensus building are essential aspects of his unique leadership style. He is adept at mobilizing domestic and international teams for the delivery of services on global accounts. His completed works to date exceed 10 million square feet, with locations in more than 48 cities across 12 countries worldwide. With vision and advocacy, John inspires his teams to create innovative solutions that heighten the human experience within the built environment. John is a member of the AIA, and a Board Member of the IIDA’s New York Chapter where he serves as Co-Chair of the annual Leaders Breakfast event. He is past Chair of the Design Professions Council of the Fetzer Institute, and is committed to equitable design that improves the health and wellbeing of the clients and community he serves.

   As Managing Principal of Workplace in New York, John is responsible for all business aspects of leading a dynamic practice group; establishing vision for long-term success, nurturing client relationships, promoting financial growth, integrating new technology and implementation models, as well as mentoring colleagues. His role is focused on expanding Perkins & Will’s service offering by development of business strategies and strengthening of global relationships within the firm’s 26 offices throughout The Americas, Europe and the Middle East. John’s work has received numerous awards and recognition by The American Institute of Architects, the Society of American Registered Architects, Crain’s New York, as well as CoreNet Global for ‘Project of the Year’. He has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal and has served as panelist speaker for BisNow and various industry events. His work has been featured in the New York Times, NY Real Estate Journal, Real Estate New York (recognized as one of ‘40 Under 40’ in 2009), and Interior Design. In 2022, John received the Ellen Kushman Distinguished Service Award for his volunteer work in support of the IIDA NY Chapter.
