ABOUT JOHN ROBERT GARDNER

So after an incredible year in Alaska, with a great team providing education, cert/recert services to an area from the far West Aluetians east the Prince William Sound, northeast to Copper River, and Northwest to Bristol Bay. 102 service provider groups, 70% of the territory reachable only by boat or plane. I\'m back home again. After taking several months for career transition after resigning from Sun spring of \'06, I worked fulltime as an EMT and did consulting on the side. This took me to Keane Architecture Services as a Principal Consultant and I did a lot of work with Endeca and integrating OWL. Thereafter a difficult choice between many opportunities ultimately resolved to the role at Digitas. Digitas had the Walt Disney World online contract and so that was a fun way to wrap up my corporate career, see friends, do some great online Semantic Web work, and build up airline miles. Digitas had a golden parachute. upon which I counted as I jumped into my true passion (in which I\'d already begun to work), EMS. The parachute eased me out of corporate minutiae and through paramedic school at SouthCoast Training. I remained at Atlantic-Cataldo EMS where I am a Senior Paramedic in Lynn and Peabody, Newburyport and surrounding. At Sun I was swoRDFish Metadata initiative Program Manager. Worked with cross organizational team to implement integration of automated cross-product/training line offerings for economic and training efficiency. Previously technology lead for implementation/development of enterprise-wide search, browse, and taxonomy deployment serving global enterprise. Consulting on taxonomy and knowledge networking in Biotech (NCI Oncology, Genetic Ontology, BioPax), telco\'s, etc. XML Engineer for extensive digital Library project Authored early book on XSLT for Prentice Hall Specialties: Taxonomy, Ontology, Metadata, knowledge networking, Search, semantic web, information sciences, text mining, content management/retrieval
