About John R Large
John R. Large has been a member of the NextEra Energy/Florida Power & Light team since 2010. In his position as the Executive Director of Corporate Security & Aviation he is responsible for strategy and oversight of the enterprise security and aviation functions. Leads a team of security personnel, pilots, mechanics and administrative staff to ensure the company’s objectives are met. Mr. Large is responsible for developing close relationships with high-level federal, state and local law enforcement, intelligence, and private sector counterparts in order to enhance the effectiveness of the security and aviation mission.Mr. Large is the immediate past Chairmen of the Edison Electrical Institute (EEI) Security Committee. The EEI Security Committee is a consortium of national investor owned utilities. Mr. Large is also a charter member of the newly formed ES- ISAC Physical Security Advisory Council.Prior to his career with NextEra Energy/FPL, Mr. Large served in the United States Secret Service. Mr. Large retired after a 26 year career with the United States Secret Service. He was a member of the Federal Governments Senior Executive program and his last position was as the SES Special Agent in Charge of the Criminal Investigative Division. In this position, Mr. Large was responsible for all domestic and international criminal investigations involving counterfeiting, financial crimes, and cyber/electronic crimes.Mr. Large is a graduate of the George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is also a graduate of the USG Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Senior Executive Service Development program. Mr. Large is a graduate from the Georgetown University International Security Management Association (ISMA) Leadership Development Program. Additionally, Mr. Large holds the CPP certification from ASIS International
