About John R. Gies

Domestically and internationally, I have worked on a wide range of projects from high-rise, core and shell, office buildings to car dealerships and high security, fully built-out, field offices, and multi-use buildings for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Army Core of Engineers, and the U.S. Department of State. With a focus on both architectural technology and aesthetics, I believe that I have defined myself as a versatile architect. I am a leader and expert in all aspects of building design including: physical security, life safety, and code compliance.Having led the design teams for nearly one hundred buildings on four different continents over the course of my career, I also believe that I have a sensitive eye for pattern language, local geometry and other cultural manifestations that can help guide the design into a form and facade that bridges the gap of western design with the indigenous buildings of any given country.
