President & CEO of a highly-respected, innovative, and pioneering national organization founded in 1980 that has played an outsized role advancing conservation agriculture through advocacy, research, and programming—leading a movement that has protected over 7 million acres of farmland and advanced regenerative farming practices on millions of acres more. Hired following a period when AFT suffered major financial losses and needed retooling. AFT has since rebounded by quadrupling its budget and staff, and by re-establishing itself as the national thought leader in this field. During this period, AFT conducted the most comprehensive study of American land use ever undertaken, helped secure billions of dollars in federal funding to protect farmland and promote climate-smart agriculture, and launched new initiatives that build soil health and support next-generation farmers.
