John provides leadership to a 20-member staff team and a 24-person board of directors in fulfilling the work and mission of Akron Community Foundation. The foundation began in 1955 with a $1 million gift from the estate of B.F. Goodrich executive Edwin C. Shaw. It now has nearly $300 million in assets and over 750 affiliate, donor advised, scholarship and non-profit agency endowment funds. The foundation, including donor-advised funds, has awarded over $200 million in grants since the organization’s founding. John and his team have transformed the foundation into a more donor centric organization promoting permanent philanthropy for the good of the greater Akron Community, achieving record growth recently in both new contributions and funds established and grants and distributions back into the community.
