About John Petersen
A systems ecologist by training, Dr. Petersen\'s research and entrepreneurship focus on understanding and moderating flows of energy, cycles of material and feedback control mechanisms operating in environmental and social systems. With awards and support from the U.S. and Ohio EPA, the Great Lakes Protection Fund and numerous other organizations Petersen has played an instrumental role in developing real-time feedback monitoring and display technologies for buildings, organizations and whole cities with the goal of engaging, educating, motivating and empowering pro-environmental and pro-community thought and action. In 2004 he co-founded Lucid Design Group. With multiple patents and technology implemented in nearly buildings across U.S. and Canada, Lucid was widely recognized as the industry leader in real-time monitoring, display and analytics for buildings until it was purchased by Acuity Brands in 2018. That same year, Petersen founded \"Community Hub\" which provides data display and communications Dashboard software. “Environmental Dashboard” is a technological and programmatic approach for promoting systems thinking and community transformation towards full-spectrum sustainability and climate resilience.
