ABOUT JOHN ORMANDY

With over 15 years experience in social enterprise, I have dedicated my career to supporting vulnerable people through practical, purpose-led work. Since 2006, my background has included providing accommodation to charities and housing associations across the UK, helping individuals and families access safe, stable housing. This work shaped my understanding of resilience, accountability, and what effective support really looks like on the ground.In 2022, I experienced a significant personal turning point following a conviction for section 2 fraud by misrepresentation, for which I served 2 years and 5 months in custody. That period became a profound time of reflection, learning, and growth. It also gave me first-hand insight into the realities of imprisonment, the barriers people face on release, and the gaps that exist between policy, intention, and lived reality.From June 2024, I volunteered with Rebuild With Hope CIC, bringing my lived experience into direct support for serving prisoners. I later joined the organisation in an operational capacity, working across Operations and HMP support. As Rebuild with Hope’s Lived Experience Ambassador, I support and mentor serving prisoners, helping them navigate the practical and emotional difficulties of leaving prison, with the clear aim of increasing their chances of successful reintegration and long-term stability.Alongside this, I am the founder of Social Pathways, a face-to-face and digital life coaching and consultancy initiative focused on helping individuals rebuild their lives with purpose, confidence, and direction. Through Social Pathways, I deliver lived experience talks, mentoring, and structured support around mindset, accountability, and progression. I also work with individuals, charities, and organisations seeking to develop housing and support models for people affected by imprisonment or homelessness.I collaborate closely with practitioners, advocates, and organisations who are committed to doing this work properly, ethically, and with integrity. Together, we focus on practical outcomes, not performative solutions.My mission is straightforward: to use both my professional background and lived experience to contribute to systems that genuinely support change.
