Senior Earth scientist in the NASA Langley Research Center Science Directorate and for the Committee on Earth Observing Satellites (CEOS) Systems Engineering Office. Served as Associate Program Manager, NASA Applied Sciences Disasters Program, Jan 2011 - Sep 2021. SME in NASA disaster research and response for severe and tropical weather, coastal inundation, global flood, sea level rise, land subsidence, volcanic effluents, toxic spills, wildfire and other natural and anthropogenic disasters. Served as Deputy Program Applications lead of the NASA Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) mission. Previously served as the senior atmospheric scientist for the NASA Aviation Safety Program\'s Aviation Weather Information (AWIN) and Atmospheric Hazard Sensing and Mitigation Projects during primary assignment as Deputy Program Manager, NASA Applied Science Program weather research, 2002 through 2011. Concurrently also served as project manager of the NASA Advanced Satellite Aviation-weather Products (ASAP) Project which was featured as the cover article for the October 2007 issue of the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society. Served as NASA Principal Investigator for the 2003 Atlantic THORPEX Regional Campaign (ATReC) and the Pacific THORPEX Observing System Test (P-TOST) field campaigns.Research focus is satellite data applications for natural and anthropogenic hazards. Co-authored definitive article in the September 2013 issue of the AMS Journal of Applied Meteorology and Climatology on the topic entitled, “An Advanced System to Monitor the 3D Structure of Diffuse Volcanic Ash Clouds”. Most recent research centers on both volcanic aerosols and coastal inundation and recurrent flooding due to sea level rise and land subsidence in the lower Chesapeake Bay region. Numerous personal and group achievement awards including the NASA Exceptional Service Medal and the NASA Langley Research Center’s Holloway Award for Technology Transfer.
