About John Mungenast

I am currently a Senior Data Analytics major at Miami University in Ohio searching for roles in data analytics, data science, or data engineering. I believe these roles would best fit my technical acumen, complimenting my strong communication skills to be able to translate meaningful insights into business decisions. In the past year, I spent a semester abroad in Barcelona. The challenge of immersion into a foreign culture and interacting with people from all over the globe was incredibly eye-opening and rewarding. This experience forced me to step outside of my comfort zone by learning how to effectively communicate with anyone regardless of their background or similarities in language in order to better understand them. This is a skill that I believe will translate extremely well to my professional life, as my passion in data analytics lies in what goes beyond the numbers.Following my semester abroad, I was fortunate to work as a Business Analyst Intern at Spectrum. In this role, I was elected by my peers to be the team lead for our Hackathon team project, in which we examined how Spectrum could gain a larger market share in the competitive mobile market. In the day-to-day roles, I employed SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence to conduct end-to-end analyses of corporate revenue data, as well as designing interactive dashboards for executive summary which trended billions in revenue over multiple months.Over the summer of 2022, I had the opportunity to work as a Tax Analyst intern at Cigna, where I learned valuable skills in Alteryx, Microsoft B.I, Excel, and OneSource, all while networking and working in different teams. The program that intrigued me the most was Alteryx and its powerful automation skills, most notably working on a program that completed a day’s worth of work on an Excel document in just 12 seconds! All of these experiences helped rekindle a love for problem solving at all levels, a skill that I hope to continue using daily in future jobs.Through these experiences, placing certain tools in my tool kit, I believe I bring a diverse set of skills and a strong desire to learn to any role I may be a part of in the future.
