ABOUT JOHN MILLER

I spent over 40 years as a senior executive in the global IT industry with Dell Technologies and Micro Focus (later acquired by OpenText). Starting in sales, I moved into global sales leadership and business operations roles, ultimately leading major go-to-market transformation and post-acquisition integration programmes.I was the GTM sponsor for Micro Focus’s $8.8B acquisition of HPE Software in 2017 and later supported the $6B acquisition of Micro Focus by OpenText in 2023, where I served on the Integration Office and cost-reduction programme. Throughout my career, I managed multi-million-dollar revenue targets and operating budgets with a practical, “get things done” mindset.Since leaving OpenText in 2023, I have focused on my lifelong passion for the British countryside and conservation.I am currently:• Trustee – Atlantic Salmon Trust• Trustee – Curlew ActionAmbassador Conservation CommunicationsI also advocate for introducing a GCSE in Natural History to help build a more nature-literate society.Alongside this work, I write about the countryside, field sports, seasonal food, and conservation. My debut book, What’s in a Year, was published in 2025, and my second book, One Day, a Thousand Songs, is being published in May 2026 (Merlin Unwin) follows a single day of birdsong in my Wiltshire garden, with 42 species.Countryside
