John Mandyck has a unique and early view on global sustainability trends, matched with 30-yearmarket insight.John joined Urban Green Council in 2018 as its first-ever CEO. Urban Green is a nonprofit environmental organization based in NYC dedicated to decarbonizing buildings for healthy and resilient communities. Since 2018, the organization has tripled its reach with research, public policy development and education, shaping some of the word\'s foremost climate laws for real estate and buildings.Prior to Urban Green, John spent 25 years at Fortune 45 United Technologies Corporation with well-known global brands such as Carrier air conditioning systems, Otis elevators and Pratt & Whitney jet engines. His career spanned government relations, marketing, communications and sustainability. He retired as global Chief Sustainability Officer for the $60B company in 2018.John is an Adjunct Professor for sustainability at the University of Connecticut School of Business and will teach at NYU\'s Stern School of Business in 2026. He was also a Visiting Scientist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. John is the founding chair of the Corporate Advisory Board for the World Green Building Council and former chair of Urban Green. He has published on sustainability in Harvard Business Review and The Economist, and is the co-author of the book Food Foolish, which explores the hidden connection between food waste, hunger and climate change. He started the Race to 9 Billion podcast and can be found on Twitter and Instagram @JohnMandyck.John is a frequent public speaker averaging 30 annual engagements at industry events, conferences and universities on the global mega trends impacting the environment with particular focus on solutions for a more sustainable future.
