About John M. Rice

John is Partner Emeritus at Cincytech, LLC, a venture development company focusing on seed venture capital investment where he led the life science practice, and a co-founder and former Managing Partner of Triathlon Medical Ventures, both in based in Cincinnati. He has 35 years of venture investing and 13 years of research and R&D management experience in biomedical science. He has strong relationships in the scientific community from the 26 years he spent in biomedical research and R&D management at Battelle and Senmed. John was a Managing Director of Senmed Medical Ventures from 1989 until 2003. Previously, John spent 13 years with Battelle Memorial Institute serving in various research, research management, and business development capacities. John is a member of the Board of Enable Injections, Airway Therapeutics and Armatus Therapeutics, and Board Chairman of Kurome Therapeutics and Neucore Bio. He has served previously as Chairman of Genetesis, Xact Medical, Eccrine Systems, Myonexus and Standard Bariatrics and on the boards of Aerpio (ARPO), Akebia (AKBA)(Founder and Chairman), Kereos, Syntherix (CEO), CS-Keys, and as an observer at Endocyte (ECYT) and Colucid Pharmaceuticals (CLCD). John was also an independent member of the Board of Directors of Meridian Biosciences (VIVO). John is Chairman of the Investment Advisory Board of the Harrington Discovery Institute. He serves on the advisory boards of the Innovation Fund at Cincinnati Children\'s Hospital Medical Center. He is a past member of the board and past chair of BioOhio, BioStart, Neurotech Innovation Translator at OSU, the Industry Advisory Board of the Case - Coulter Partnership at Case Western Reserve and the Board of the Global Cardiovascular Innovation Center at the Cleveland Clinic. He has authored numerous scientific publications and holds patents in the fields of virology and immunology. John earned BS, MS and PhD degrees in Microbiology and Virology from The Ohio State University.
