ABOUT JOHN M. LODER

John Loder practiced corporate and securities law at Ropes & Gray, one of the nation\'s leading law firms, for nearly 40 years until his retirement effective January 1, 2024. In recent years, his practice focused primarily on the asset management industry, including investment advisory firms, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, hedge funds, private equity firms, real estate investment trusts, and the asset management activities of banks, broker-dealers, and insurance companies. He handled a wide range of regulatory, governance, transactional, and government enforcement matters for asset-management industry clients, and maintained an extensive practice as outside counsel to the boards of directors of investment companies, real estate investment trusts, and investment advisory firms. He has been widely recognized for many years as one of the most prominent practitioners in the field nationally. Earlier experience included a broad range of transactional matters (public offerings, other financings, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations etc.) across industries including telecommunications, banking, insurance, asset management, technology, public utilities, manufacturing, and retail.He currently serves on the Board of Directors of 30 publicly-offered, SEC-registered fixed-income, disciplined equity, and money market mutual funds in the American Century Funds group, chairing the Board\'s Technology and Risk Committee and serving on the Board\'s Audit and Compliance Committee, Governance Committee, Portfolio Committee, and Client Experience Oversight Committee.He has served for approximately 20 years as a board member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, one of the largest organizations of its kind in the world. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Boston Symphony\'s Board of Trustees, Chair of the Board\'s Governance and Nominating Committees, and a member of the Board\'s Executive Committee, Finance Committee, and Compensation Committee. He also currently serves on the Strategic Planning Task Force which is overseeing the development of a new strategic plan for the organization. He chaired the Search Committee that recruited the Boston Symphony\'s current President and Chief Executive Officer in 2023, and served on or chaired the ad hoc Board committees that oversaw the organization\'s collective bargaining negotiations with its unionized employees in 2020 and 2023.He serves as a Trustee of the New England Conservatory of Music, a Director of the League of American Orchestras and Boston Lyric Opera, and as President of the Harvard Musical Association.
