   After 34 years of federal government public affairs service to the nation, I retired 2/28/25. In my last position, I regularly interfaced with the media about NOAA\'s current and next-generation weather satellite programs. This included highlighting the many ways NOAA satellites touch our lives each day - from taking the pulse of Earth from space, to helping forecasters see developing storms days in advance. In fact, more than 90 percent of the data used in NOAA\'s weather prediction models comes from satellites.Before handling public affairs for NOAA\'s satellite program, I was part of the public affairs team at NOAA\'s National Weather Service. I helped lead several national media awareness campaigns for severe weather and crisis communications efforts, responding to severe weather outbreaks.
