About John Koury
I’m a technical founder currently pursuing an MBA at MIT Sloan (Class of 2027), with experience building and scaling products at the intersection of technology, strategy, and real-world deployment. Before Sloan, I worked across robotics, medtech, and biotech, contributing to product development efforts that spanned early concept work through commercialization in regulated and technically complex environments. In parallel, I founded Koury Vending, a hardware-enabled services business adapting dual-temperature vending systems for the U.S. market. Building the company has involved designing systems, testing business models, navigating operational and regulatory constraints, and deploying technology in everyday, real-world settings. My background combines hands-on technical experience with entrepreneurial execution, shaping how I think about product decisions, adoption challenges, and the non-obvious factors that determine whether a technology can scale. I’m particularly drawn to work where the path forward is unclear and progress depends on synthesizing technical, market, and organizational considerations into clear direction. At Sloan, I’m deepening my focus on innovation strategy, product leadership, and organizational decision-making, while staying closely connected to technical communities and emerging technologies.

Founder
Jun 2021 — Present · Boston, MA, US
Founded and scaled a hardware-enabled vending services company focused on deploying dual-temperature systems in institutional environments. The business adapts specialized vending technology for the U.S. market and operates across universities and other high-traffic locations. My work spans end-to-end company building, including product and system design, business model development, partnerships, and deployment strategy. Building the company required navigating regulatory, operational, and supply-chain constraints, while continuously testing assumptions around pricing, placement, and demand in real-world settings. The role has shaped how I think about translating technical capabilities into scalable services, stress-testing business models under uncertainty, and closing the gap between innovation and everyday adoption.
