In Saudi Arabia, the responsibility for Technical and Vocational Education and Training lies with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC). One of the main objectives of TVTC is “to absorb the maximum number of people willing to benefit from technical and vocational training in order to achieve sustainable development”. This, of course, implies that those who avail themselves of these opportunities for training and education are also able to secure suitable employment. Dr. Knapp provides input to the design and implementation of the main technical components of this project in order to achieve its outcomes.

ABOUT JOHN KNAPP
Over the past 30 plus years (20 years living long-term overseas), John Knapp has assumed various responsibilities and developed expertise related to TVET and Workforce Development. He has prepared and facilitated processes related to the design and delivery of demand-driven education and training programs. He has applied his expertise to organizations both in Canadian and international settings. The latter venues have been in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (West Bank and Gaza), Jordan, UAE, Philippines, Thailand, Pakistan, Egypt, Argentina, Vietnam, Kurdistan, Mozambique, Uganda, and China. Dr. Knapp was the Policy Advisor / Project Manager for the CIDA – funded Building and Extending Skills Training (BEST) project in Jordan. The project was part of the Canadian support to the Employment, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (E-TVET) Reform. The BEST Project was selected as one of the best youth enablement practices internationally by the International Labour Organization (ILO). Out of more than 100 projects that were identified and nominated from across the world, BEST was one of the five best practices selected. While in Jordan, he supported the Crown Prince in the design of a Technical University. Dr. Knapp was recently the Senior TVET Advisor for the Government of Canada– funded Vietnam Skills for Employment Project (VSEP) in Vietnam and the Senior Curriculum Development Advisor in the EU-Funded TVET II Initiative in Egypt. In additional to helping implement the above-mentioned types of projects, Dr. Knapp has also monitored the achievement of project results through the provision of technical, management and policy analysis and advice to Global Affairs Canada (GAC), a Government of Canada agency. This Government of Canada role was a support to the delivery and sustainability of TVET and workforce development projects throughout the countries of focus for GAC. The counties of focus were the Caribbean Region, Egypt, and Mozambique. John Knapp has had the privilege of supporting over 20 NGOs, church, and para-church organizations as Board Member / Chair or leading Strategic Planning planning processes aimed at building their capacity and strengthening their missions and outcomes. As well he has developed and delivered face-to face and online instructional programs for delivery in Canada and overseas at the university and college levels.
