Responsibilities include defining company fundamental safety strategy for SW/CEH, author and owner of the company approval basis for software and electronic hardware and risk characterization, reviewing and mentoring company approach to integrated modular avionics (IMA), supporting and deciding technical escalation for SW/EH safety risk characterization, summarizing the safety rationale behind DO-178C and DO-254, reviewing plans, evaluating alternative means of compliance, developing strategy for safety of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), defining and coordinating safety compliance reviews, mentoring program and SW/EH safety engineers, coordinating company-level training, collaborating cross-functionally with support organizations, defining supplier management for SW/EH safety, contributing to the system safety plan, and supporting integration of SW/EH safety into the overall safety program. Supporting all programs, including New Shepard, New Glenn, Engines, Orbital Reef, and NASA\'s Artemis program on the National Team Human Landing System (HLS).At an industry level, acting Task Lead and primary author of the new U.S. commercial space ASTM F47.01 WK76298 standard for systems, software, and electronic hardware safety. Standard is currently in work. Membership includes NASA, Space Force, FAA (AST), Space X, Lockheed Martin, and other industry participants. Responsible for setting the technical direction of the standard, holding weekly and monthly working meetings, and authoring the standard.
