About John Johnson

I have been involved in the supervision and regulation of banks and savings institutions for over 19 years. I joined the Ohio Division of Financial Institutions (the Division) as an examiner trainee in 2006, after a short stint with an accounting firm in Columbus, Ohio. With the Division, I became a senior examiner and oversaw many examinations during the 20••••11 financial crisis. In 2017, I was promoted to the position of Case Manager with the Division where I provided the final review on examination reports and performed offsite financial monitoring for a portfolio of more than 55 institutions. In 2022, I moved into the role of Trust Supervisor where I oversaw a team of examiners, along with a portfolio of five non-depository trust companies and 12 in-bank trust departments. Most recently, I was promoted to the position of Chief Examiner for Banks where I am primarily responsible for all examination activities (safety & soundness, IT, and trust) for all 103 state chartered banks, savings institutions, and non-depository trust companies. In 2017, I graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin where I finished in the top 5% of my class and simultaneously earned a Certificate of Executive Leadership from the University of Wisconsin. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio in August 2006.
