Direct management of teams of highly experienced adjusters, based in ten locations across the UK & Europe, handling casualty & EIL claims in excess of US$500K. Additional technical accountability for LAC, the Middle East & Africa. The VP acts as a referral point for claims enquiry, while ensuring the technical development of the team. The role also involves supporting the wider strategic management of the line of business claims response across the region, acting as a thought leader to internal & external stakeholders Functional Responsibilities & Accountabilities Include; • Managing the allocation of claims to the best technical expert & acting as a referral point • Keeping regional & global leadership advised of key major loss developments & wider severity trends • Being a key liabilities technical contact for global, regional & country claims, underwriting & actuarial colleagues • Management & training – developing the current team & the “next generation” of major loss adjusters • Being a key escalation point for major customers • Cascading of financial authorities to team members, ensuring that team empowerment is balanced against governance & management oversight • Setting appropriate & measurable goals for the team • Monthly audit/review of claims across UK & Ireland • Identification & communication of emerging risks relevant to major casualty losses & the wider line of business • Tracking & publishing/promoting claims successes • Championing casualty related claims projects • Drafting, publishing & maintaining best practice guidelines for the US$500K+ team • Ensuring effective resolution of the high value claims handled by the team. Ensuring accurate & consistent reserving, and mitigation of indemnity & legal costs spend • Monitoring & controlling general operating expense • Maximizing best practice compliance & minimizing lost economic opportunities. • Representing AIG at industry forums and events across Europe • Succession planning
