ABOUT JOHN HENRICKS

As a professional planner with over 41 years experience in Alberta and Ontario, Mr. Henricks has participated in and been project manager for land development projects involving Area Structure (Secondary) Plan preparation and subdivision design; site planning and condominium development; preparation of community and area redevelopment plans; preparation of planning studies for land development projects and municipal policy issues; environmental assessments and watershed planning; preparation of Zoning Bylaws and Official Plans; led public participation programs; made presentations before approval agencies; and provided expert testimony before the Ontario Municipal Board. This experience includes running a business, co-managing a branch office for an engineering/planning firm, and serving as Executive Director of the Grande Prairie Chapter of the Urban Development Institute. As Director of Planning and Economic Development in Taber, responsibilities included addressing economic development opportunities, managing an industrial land development project, and negotiating development agreements for new residential land development within the town. As Director of Community and Development Services in Niagara-on-the-Lake, responsibilities included the Planning and Building Divisions as well as by law and parking enforcement and Economic Development.
