ABOUT JOHN HARRISON
I am Professor of Urban and Regional Studies at Loughborough University, UK, where I am currently Associate Dean for Research & Innovation in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities. I am also Associate Director of the Globalization and World Cities (GaWC) research network, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Regional Studies, and Board Member and Trustee of the Regional Studies Association.My research interests are in urban and regional studies, with a focus on how cities and regions are planned and governed. I am interested in advancing new conceptual and methodological approaches to studying cities and regions, while empirically I focus on how city-regions, metropolitan regions, polycentric urban regions, and megaregions are being planned and governed.I have published 8 books, including:Regions in Evolution: A History of Regional Planning (2026)Planning Regional Futures (2022)Metropolitan Regions, Planning and Governance (2020)Handbook on the Geographies of Regions and Territories (2018)Doing Global Urban Research (2018)Megaregions: Globalization\'s New Urban Form (2015)
