   After a 30 year career in law enforcement, I\'m honored to start the next chapter of my life in the nonprofit space, serving as the Executive Director of KC Mothers in Charge. Founded by Rosilyn Temple after losing her son to homicide, KC Mothers in Charge is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families and communities impacted by homicide. Guided by the principles of trauma-informed care, we respond directly to homicide scenes in partnership with law enforcement, offering immediate crisis support to grieving families in the most devastating moments of their lives.Our trained crisis responders provide compassionate presence, emotional stabilization, and practical resources on-site. Beyond those first critical hours, we remain a steadfast source of hope and healing, connecting families to grief counseling, victim services, providing funeral assistance and long-term support groups. We understand that healing from violent loss is a journey—and we walk alongside survivors every step of way, from helping them navigate the criminal justice system, to weekly support calls to access needs and provide encouragement. Our work extends into the community, fostering trust between law enforcement and residents, advocating for victims’ rights, and promoting nonviolence. Every service we provide is grounded in evidence-based practices that recognize the deep, complex effects of trauma and honor the dignity of those we serve.For donors, partners, and volunteers, your involvement makes a direct and meaningful impact: you help us deliver immediate crisis care, sustain ongoing emotional support, and strengthen communities struggling with the aftermath of violence. Together, we can ensure that no family has to navigate this unimaginable loss alone.
