ABOUT JOHN GOSSER
No matter the challenge, I get things done. And, with Commerce Street Capital resources, now is the time. My 30+ years working with community banks helps my understanding of banking M&A and strategies in improving today’s tight margins. Specifically, I want community banking to remain strong and to further that effort, I assist clients to capitalize on their strategic growth objectives. My history has prepared me for this role. I have advised boards, ALCO and executive teams for hundreds of community banks resulting in improved balance sheets and increased earnings. Prior to joining Commerce Street, I served as a Director in the Fort Worth office for Griffin Financial-an investment banking firm, where I was involved in the Financial Institutions Group. I help community banks with M&A, capital raise, branch sale, Sub S bank consulting, SBA loans and Native American loan sales. In my past, I have served as Senior Vice President of Capital Markets and Director of SBA Sales for TIB-The Independent Bankers Bank, where I advised bank presidents, CFOs, ALCOs and bank boards on fixed income securities, interest rate risk and hedging, and mergers and acquisitions, as well as strategies to generate income and reduce risk. I also served as a Managing Director and Director of Sales for Shay Financial Services where I worked with numerous banks on strategies to leverage capital and improve their balance sheets and net interest margins, and as a Vice President of Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas and One National Bank, where I began my banking career.One of my passions is educating and training. I am a frequent speaker and trainer who has worked with bank boards, banking associations, banking schools and state and federal regulators, including the OCC, Federal Reserve and FDIC and SMU’s highly regarded banking school—SWGSB.
