ABOUT JOHN GORE KELLY

Mr. Kelly practices general corporate, real property and lending law. On the real estate side, his practice emphasizes commercial real estate financing, acquisitions, sales, development and leasing. With respect to corporate matters, his practice includes mergers & acquisitions, corporate formation, joint ventures and corporate governance. With respect to financing, his practice includes the representation of lenders and borrowers in all types of financing.He has represented institutional investors such as life insurance companies, pension funds and banks as well as developers in connection with their real estate investments. This representation has included transactions involving the purchase and financing of office buildings, shopping centers, hotels, and other investment-grade properties, as well as several multi-property office, retail and hotel property transactions. Mr. Kelly also has substantial experience representing regional landlords and national and regional tenants in complex office, retail and government leases. He serves as an Editor for Commercial Leasing Law & Strategy, a leading national leasing publication. Recent representative office leasing transactions include representing a DC tenant on a 40k sf lease, a Reston tenant on regional headquarters of over 230K sf, a Reston tenant on a 200k national headquarters, an Arlington landlord on a 20k sf transaction, an Alexandria landlord on a 25k sf transaction, an Arlington tenant on a 24k sf transaction and a Reston tenant on a 30k lease amendment. Recent representative retail leasing transactions include representing a landlord on a local brewpub deal, a national retailer on dozens of 20k+ sf matters and a national retailer on dozens of 2k+ sf transactions. He represents many local businesses as their general counsel, including with respect to their capital events such as sales, mergers and preferred investments. He has represented many middle market sellers in asset and stock sale transactions ranging in total value from $5 million to $70 million.John was named as a Best Lawyer for 2020 Real Estate in and a top real estate lawyer by Arlington Magazine.
