About John Goodrich

John Goodrich has 35 years of experience in wildlife research and conservation, with a focus on tigers and other large carnivores. Currently, he is Chief Scientist for Panthera and Senior Director of Panthera\'s Tiger Program. Previously, he served as a scientific adviser for WCS research and conservation projects in Russia, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, China and other Asian countries. He has designed and implemented applied research projects on tigers, three bear species, leopards, Eurasian lynx, and North American badgers and has been involved in monitoring of a variety of species including saola, gibbons, clouded leopard, and otters. He has also worked extensively in human-wildlife conflict, particularly with tigers. His work is disseminated in about 80 scientific and 40 popular publications.Specialties: • Applied research on species and community ecology and behavior.• Monitoring wildlife populations and threats to their conservation.• Mentoring, training, and capacity building for conservation.• Human-carnivore conflict management.• Wildlife capture, anesthesia, and telemetry monitoring.
