ABOUT JOHN GOETZ
John Goetz is a lawyer and principal at EnerNext Counsel, a Canadian boutique law firm focused on energy, cleantech, and climate change. Based in Calgary, he advises clients across the energy transition on corporate and commercial matters, energy transaction and infrastructure projects.John has extensive experience supporting renewable energy, cleantech, and emissions management projects, including the development of emission reduction projects and the integration of carbon credits and emissions trading into project and financing structures. His work includes advising on solar and renewable energy transactions, power purchase agreements, acquisitions and divestitures, and emissions trading transactions.John advised on the Alberta Carbon Trunkline and several of Alberta’s first carbon capture and sequestration projects. He is a co-author of The Development of Carbon Emissions Trading in Canada (Alberta Law Review) and Enhanced Oil Recovery Through Carbon Capture and Storage – An Opportunity for Alberta, prepared for the Alberta Economic Development Authority.
