About John Fludd
I am an analytical and motivated professional who displays teamwork and leadership. I have over 17 years of experience working in the financial services industry. I am passionate about my growth and development, and I am dedicated to achieving my career and life goals. I hold a Master of Business Administration Degree from The Citadel, and a Bachelor’s Degree in the Science of Accounting from The College of Charleston where I studied accounting, auditing, finance and other business disciplines. My most recent role is Assistant Controller with Waste Connections. WC is in the commercial and residential waste business, and provides waste collection, transfer, disposal and recycling services of solid waste. My controllership includes responsibility for the market’s financial reporting, month-end close, forecasting, compliance, and budget management. I am the senior financial leader who gives critical insight, support for crucial decision-making, and oversees all other key accounting operations. Previously I worked at the Medical University of South Carolina as a Corporate Accountant and for Greystar Corporate Headquarters, a national multifamily investment, development, and property management firm in Charleston. I was a Corporate Accountant who supervised projects on the U.S. west coast. I prepared financials, reconciliations, and managed bank accounts. I also reviewed budget, revenue, expense, payroll and invoice reports. I was the intermediary between properties, development/construction, vendors, lenders, and equity partners. My responsibilities required me to work closely with Senior Accountants, Managers, and Directors to ensure the timely submission of financials in accordance with GAAP. July 2008 to January 2019, I worked for South Carolina Federal Credit Union in various positions including Card Operations Accountant in the Finance Department. I monitored the Credit Union’s vast credit card and debit card portfolio. I also worked as Credit Counselor II in Asset Protection, where I helped manage delinquencies and offered loan payment assistance. My work experience has improved my industry knowledge, communication skills, and professionalism. I am often faced with day-to-day tasks that require critical thinking and precise decision-making. I thrive in environments where it is necessary to adapt to change and use effective time management. I believe with having over 17 years of experience in banking, financial services, and accounting across several industries, I am an asset to any firm, company or institution.
