About John Parks

For more than thirty years, John Parks has worked to design and implement natural resource management solutions that strengthen environmental sustainability and human security around the world. John currently serves as a Senior Associate focusing on the Indo-Pacific region at Tetra Tech. Previously, he served as Chief of Party of the US Government-funded Sustainable Fish Asia Technical Support Activity and the Oceans and Fisheries Partnership, working across Southeast Asia to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, promote sustainable fisheries, and enhance marine biodiversity conservation. Prior to Tetra Tech, John served as a federal officer with the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and as senior staff with The Nature Conservancy, the World Resources Institute, and World Wildlife Fund. John earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami, with a dual focus on behavioral science and tropical marine ecology. He has been a contributing or lead author on numerous books, journal articles, and other publications. John holds an active US Government security clearance.

    Serving as a Senior Associate focused on the provision of scientific and technical services to clients across the Indo-Pacific. Primary responsibilities include business development, project management, and field-based technical assistance at client sites across the region. Technical areas of specialization include the management and sustainable extraction of living and non-living marine resources, strengthening the security and transparency of vital natural resource supply chains, enhancing maritime domain awareness and maritime security, and countering the malign influence of foreign state and non-state actors within maritime affairs. Works closely to meet the needs of the defense and foreign service branches of the United States federal government, as well as other bilateral and multilateral donor clients. Holds an active US Government security clearance. Tetra Tech\'s Senior Associates provide leadership, innovation, and excellence in scientific and technical service areas, leading project teams and mentoring staff.
