About John E. Joseph

I was born and raised in and around Flint, MI. After graduation from High School I attended and graduated from Western Michigan University. During college I worked at the front desk in my dormitory, as a Resident Advisor (RA) for my dormitory then at an alternative to incarceration program called the Kalamazoo Probation Enhancement Program (KPEP) in Kalamazoo, MI. During the summers off from college I worked for A.C. Spark Plug (Delphi) and held other, temporary positions. Upon graduation from WMU I returned to the Flint area and worked for the local Animal Control then as a substitute teacher in the Flint schools. I was then accepted to the Flint Police Academy and began my career in Law Enforcement. I retired from the FPD in March of 2012 and in October of 2012 I took a position at Baker College of Flint as the Director of Campus Safety. I left Baker College in June of 2019 and took a position at Lansing Township as Chief of Police. It was by having the opportunity to work in these professions that I was able to watch and learn from some of the very best people in their fields. By working with and soliciting advice from the wide range of people in the various jobs I have held I have been able to continuously grow, both personally and professionally. I am considered a valuable resource by the people with whom I work and have worked and it is through the knowledge shared with me along the way that I have been able to provide a knowledgeable voice and continue to satisfy my desire to make a difference.
