ABOUT JOHN DUNWELL

I am an experienced Paramedic Practitioner with over 22 years operational experience within the pre-hospital setting responding to emergency, non-emergency calls and delivering high standards of Clinical care,urgent care and referring onto doctors or other healthcare professionals as appropriate. As a medic, I have extensive emergency care skills which include advanced life support, resuscitation and drug therapy, sometimes in hostile environments. I have worked on ambulances but I am currently working as a clinician on a fast response unit responding to emergency calls and providing early medical support to both adults and paediatrics by delivering appropriate care to patients with medical emergencies, illness or injury prior to the arrival of a double manned ambulance. Being self motivated and decisive, I have a practical and creative outlook on life and I enjoy working within a team or can work just as resourcefully by myself. I gained extensive managerial experience whilst in charge of a busy communications department consisting of 32 personnel on an operational frontline Royal Navy frigate. I seek challenges and take initiative, but am always thorough, practical and analytical in what ever task I am engaged in. I can establish priorities and meet deadlines whilst been flexible and empathetic when delegating tasks to my subordinates and fellow colleagues.I have extensive teaching and assessing skills, having been a senior instructor trainer with the UK’s governing body for scuba diving and regional coach. I regularly teach first aid and other health & safety related courses to members of the public and to industry. One of my main achievements is having written, developed and rolled out a new first aid course for divers for the above body. I also maintain a complete continuing professional development folder.
