ABOUT JOHN CUNNINGHAM
I am a Chartered Engineer working in the field of renewable energy. My objective is to make a contribution to sustainable development.I work for SSE Renewables, the market leader in Irish wind energy. I provide technical analysis and expertise in wind resource into onshore and offshore project development teams.Before joining SSE, I worked as an expert onshore wind energy analyst for Gaelectric. I provided technical support and expertise into the development of new wind and solar projects and operation of existing assets. Prior to this position, I worked as a consultant for over 4 years at Garrad Hassan (now DNV GL), providing bankable wind farm energy production assessments and technical services to a range of clients.I am a graduate of Loughborough University, having studied a Masters degree in Renewable Energy Systems Technology and a 1st class honours degree in electrical engineering. I also hold a postgraduate specialisation diploma in grid integration of renewable energy and distributed generation at Zaragoza University as part of EUREC.I have experience researching the grid integration of renewables at both transmission and distribution level while working for Northern Ireland Electricity. A summer placement in Panama enhanced my knowledge of micro generation suitable for developing countries and complemented my role working for the international development agency, Christian Aid, early in my career.
