About John Crowley

I began my career with what is now Waypoint Mutual in November 1998 as the Chief Financial Officer after working four years in public accounting. The company, founded in 1982, was originally known as the Builders\' Association Self-Insurers\' Fund. In the role of company CFO, I was able to grow my knowledge of workers’ compensation insurance and learn the different areas of the business from a tremendous group of mentors and advisors. In 2008 I helped complete our company’s conversion to a mutual insurance company and the beginning of a new chapter as Midwest Builders\' Casualty Mutual Company. I was named as Chief Executive Officer later that year and on January 1, 2011, I assumed the role of both President and CEO of Midwest Builders’ Casualty. The organization has undergone many changes since 2011, having expanded operations into 31 states and insuring non-construction risks. On April 1, 2024, Midwest Builders\' Casualty Mutual Company changed its name to Waypoint Mutual to better align the company\'s name with its operations. However, the same guiding principles remain as true today as they did in 1982 when the organization began. We remain committed to building long-lasting partnerships with our policyholders through exceptional service, communication, and expertise. Waypoint Mutual is a regional specialty insurer providing workers’ compensation insurance for construction and manufacturing businesses. We distinguish ourselves through stable, competitive pricing, personalized service, industry expertise, and the consistent return of dividends to qualifying policyholders. We believe business is still about relationships and our ability to renew, on average, 98% of our business annually is an incredible indication of the service we provide and the partnerships we have built with our policyholders and agents. I am very proud to be able to lead Waypoint Mutual and its incredible employees who share my passion for building relationships and servicing our policyholders and agents.
