About John Ciovacco

I\'m the President of Aztech Geothermal, LLC, providing design, installation, commissioning and inspection services for ground loops and heat pump systems. At Aztech we often work with existing mechanical contractors and engineering (MEP) firms to assist with the design and installation of ground heat exchangers, leveraging our experience with hundreds of successful projects. Most recently the company is consulting to over 15 Thermal Energy Network (aka Networked or District Geothermal) projects in the Northeast US. Aztech also has trained project managers and technicians to assist in construction management, inspection and commissioning services. While running Aztech, I often serve as a resource to architects, mechanical engineering design firms, investor owned utilities, developers, building owners, and investors regarding the latest geothermal heat pump technologies, government incentives and financing options. I\'ve gained significant perspective on putting energy policy into action through party status in the last round of NYS utility rate cases for National Grid (Upstate), CHG & E, O&R, Con Edison, National Grid (downstate), NYSEG/RG & E and Corning Gas rate cases. I also serve on the Board of the New York Geothermal Energy Organization (NY-GEO), and was one of 14 people state-wide selected for the Strategic Advisory Group on Building Electrification for the Department of Public Service (DPS), and the Advisory Board for HEET. I\'ve had the privilege to lead the programing for the highly respected NY-GEO annual conferences since 2016, which facilitate a dialog with a broad range of clean thermal energy stakeholders.I\'m an Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Certified GeoExchange Designer (CGD), International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) both Certified Geothermal Inspector (CGI) and IGSHPA Accredited Installer (AI), a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certified Contractor, and a Certified Green Professional with the NAHB. I received my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Union College.
