About John Burleson

I have been associated with the Firm since receiving my Doctor of Jurisprudence, with honors, in 1983 from the University of Tennessee College of Law. I handle matters in the areas of employment law litigation (representing employers only), municipal law, federal civil rights litigation, and workers’ compensation. I regularly conduct internal investigations for employers and advise employers in the areas of compliance with Title VII, ADEA, ADA, the Tennessee Human Rights Act, and other state and federal laws related to employment. I am a member of the Firm’s Employment Law Practice Group and the Tort and Insurance Practice Group. I have been included in The Best Lawyers in America® in the specialty of Workers\' Compensation Law, I am a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation and a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, serving as a member of the Litigation Section and the Labor and Employment Section of the Tennessee Bar Association. I am also a member of the Jackson-Madison County Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute and a graduate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy’s trial advocacy skills program. I am a certified Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 General Civil Mediator and regularly mediate a wide variety of civil matters. I was admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of Tennessee in 1983. I have also been admitted to practice in the United States District Court of Tennessee (Western and Middle Districts), and the Sixth United States Court of Appeals in Cincinnati, Ohio.
