ABOUT JOHN BRENTON
Head of Carbon Reduction at TEC - particularly interested in: how consumption data can identify opportunities for energy demand reduction, behind the meter renewable energy, and peak lopping; how power purchase agreements can be used to foster new-to-earth renewable installations. I act as a \"candid friend\" in enabling institutions to develop and implement their carbon management plans and facilitate the sharing of best practice across the sectors we work with, in the face of a rapidly-evolving energy and carbon environment.I draw on more than 20 years’ experience in energy efficiency, renewable energy and carbon management for universities, local authorities and housing associations but also sustainable transport, publishing and marketing. As Interim Head of Sustainability at the University of Bristol, I led a team of 15 people who delivered circular economy, transport, EMS and sustainable energy solutions for the University. In my substantive role, I worked on energy policy and strategy for the University of Bristol\'s estate and supported the design, management and evolution of our Carbon Management Programme. I led on analysis of the University\'s energy data. I ran our consumption data management to ISO14064-1, for which I am a trained auditor, and had responsibility for compliance with a variety of energy & carbon legislation.I oversaw utilities and forecast consumption for a constantly-evolving, highly-serviced estate, with heavy emphasis on science and engineering research, using expertise in the fields of gas and electricity pricing, and the impact of non-commodity charges on consumers in the sector,
