I report directly to the GM & have overall control of all matters pertaining to hard and soft services of this 245 bedroom property. I assist with the ongoing development of effective management and administration systems, making efficient use of information technology where appropriate. To be environmentally aware and monitor energy consumption and develop an energy awareness culture within the hotel. Supervise, direct and train facilities engineering operatives under my charge and develop an understanding of switching and control arrangements of plant to ensure that it is kept in an operational condition. Be aware of and assist in the implementation all company statutory and legal requirements including Fire, Health and Safety, Hygiene, Electricity at Work, and all local by laws. Issue and control onsite work permits and produce risk assessments including COSHH, PPE & Work Equipment. Implement & monitor disrepair reporting procedure, maintain a fire book including all statutory checks and inspections. Support the hotel in the effective management and control of all service contracts, communicate effectively with service contractors and log visits of work carried out. Manage the water hygiene contract and monitoring systems, maintain a high standard of day to day repairs, through prompt attention to emergencies and fault requests. Ensure 24 hour emergency cover for the buildings is provided and respond quickly and effectively to problems and building service breakdowns, provide competent hands-on skills to ensure all hotel systems including (but not limited to), electrical, plumbing, heating and lighting are maintained in good working order and any defects are corrected promptly and properly.
