In 2006 I created a network specification document that has helped make BWMC become the flagship among the UMMS owned hospitals with regards to BWMC communication infrastructure and Communication room configurations. The network specification document includes a list of communication room infrastructure such as Ortronics Mighty Mo 10”data racks, Ortronics CAT6 patch panels, Berk-Tek GIGAlite fiber, Ortronics LAN mark CAT6 UTP Ethernet Cable cabling and Ortronics LAN mark CAT6 patch cords, Cablofil cable tray for example.In 2008 I designed all the communication rooms in BWMC’s new West tower with regards to electrical power, infrastructure (racks) layout including Security systems, Bio-Med systems, Nurse Call systems, Comcast cable TV. Also, as old areas of BWMC are renovated the communication rooms are being rebuilt to the new standard. I’ve assisted in the installation of several EMR, billing systems at BWMC most recently EPIC, Cerner by adding cabling and network switches as required.In 2013 with the help of some of my colleagues all the Extreme switches were replaced with Cisco 6500’s, 4500’s, 3750’s switches. Working with the Security department I also connected and overseen the installation of the cabling for 100 IP POE cameras. I designed the layout of the fiber LIU’s in the most recent fiber upgrade at BWMC by dividing the fiber between the primary and secondary Distribution and Core Switch/Router racks for a more coherent layout.
