I\'m in DC by way of KC. I was born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1971. I grew up on the Kansas side of the KC metro area in the suburb of Prairie Village. In 1990, I graduated Shawnee Mission East high school. From there, I attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, graduating in 1994 with degrees in journalism and economics. After graduating Mizzou, as we call the university, I headed to the DC area to pursue a journalism career. After working as a staff writer at Investor\'s Business Daily and the Washington Times\' Insight magazine, I moved into the think tank world at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, where I work today as Senior Fellow & Director of Finance Policy,
