The Real Property Management Division of Alabama\'s Department of Finance oversees and maintains over nine (9) million square feet of state entity-occupied commercial space throughout Alabama. All real property owned or leased by state departments, boards, bureaus, commissions, agencies, offices and institutions shall be managed and supervised by the Department of Finance through centralized divisions. As one of those divisions, the Department of Leasing Management (DLM) was organized to provide centralized leasing administration and comprehensive real property asset management practices to 1) achieve immediate and long term cost savings and cost avoidance, 2) increase operational efficiency, 3) optimize opportunities to move from leased spaces to state-owned spaces, and 4) establish office space standards. DLM was also charged to formulate a statewide leasing plan for offices and other needed lease space for the various state departments, boards, bureaus, commissions, agencies, and offices managed by the division.As the central office for leasing management, DLM oversees Executive Branch leases of real estate; manages a variety of building projects; and reviews real estate leases for compliance with State law, competitive market pricing, and inclusion of required provisions, terms and conditions that are allowable and favorable to the State.
