About John Barrett

With more than 30 years in government affairs, I lead state and federal advocacy for Great Plains Communications. I’ve built a career at the intersection of business and public policy, helping shape broadband expansion, regulatory reform, and industry growth across Nebraska, Indiana, and Washington, D.C. As Chair of the Nebraska Telecommunications Association Board and a board member of ACA Connects, I’m focused on building coalitions that strengthen communities and expand opportunity. Passionate about integrity and innovation, I work to ensure Nebraska’s industries are positioned for responsible growth and long-term success.In addition, I serve as a Commissioner with the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission, where I help ensure integrity and public trust while guiding the responsible growth of Nebraska’s gaming and racing industry. I collaborate with commissioners, staff, and stakeholders to balance strong regulatory oversight with economic opportunity.
