I play a key role in ensuring land development and construction activities meet regulatory and environmental expectations across Wellington.Key responsibilities:Provided technical geotechnical signoff for subdivisions, with robust review of geotechnical and design reports.Assessed geotechnical reports, including evaluation of ground models, ground conditions, and slope stability analyses under ULS, SLS, and static/seismic conditions.Identified and questioned uncertainties in reports related to seismic slope failure, subsidence, liquefaction, and ground behaviour.Investigated complaints and service requests relating to geotechnical issues across the council.Reviewed and advised on Erosion and Sediment Control Plans (ESCPs), Dust Management Plans, and Earthworks Methodologies to mitigate environmental risks.Provided expert input on Construction Management Plans (CMPs) and site-specific earthworks methodologies to ensure safe and compliant implementation.Evaluated producer statements and verified compliance with consent conditions.Worked on a range of consent types including land use, subdivision, and outline plan consents.Delivered occasional transport assessments where required to support planning teams.Supported compliance officers in on-site monitoring and enforcement of unconsented or non-compliant earthworks activities.Helped draft and implement standard and project-specific consent conditions to strengthen enforceability.Collaborated across planning, compliance, and legal teams, as well as with applicants and external consultants.Contributed to process improvements and policy development aligned with changes in legislation, engineering standards, and best practice.
