The Rhode Island Guardians Association (RIGA) is a Rhode Island-based non-profit 501(c)3 minority police organization. The organization\'s vision resulted from retired and active members of color coming together to advocate for officers of color and to target many historical and complex issues involving law enforcement and the communities they serve, especially communities of color. The Guardians actively collaborate with law enforcement and communities of color to strengthen police-community relations and advocate for sensible police reform. The Guardians organization consists of volunteer peace officers and public safety officers only. Our mission is to provide community-based solutions to policing problems that directly impact communities of color and the pivotal roles Black/African American, Latino, Asian, indigenous/tribal law enforcement personnel, and other criminal justice practitioners of color play.
