ABOUT JOHANNES HELMUTH

Dr. Johannes Helmuth graduated in Computational Epigenomics at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics under supervision of Dr. Ho-Ryun Chung and Prof. Martin Vingron. His thesis focuses deals with the arrangement of epigenetic modifications in euchromatic (transcriptionally active) and heterochromatic (silenced) DNA regions to ensure transcriptional stability. To this end Johannes developed various methods to normalize NGS data (RNA-seq & ChIP-seq) for efficient signal extraction. Furthermore, he gained a profound knowledge in statistics, multivariate data analysis and deep learning.Since 2017 Johannes works as a Bioinformatician at Labor Berlin - Charité Vivantes GmbH offering day-to-day bioinformatic services to departments Hematology/Oncology, Human Genetics, Microbiology and Virology for the timely analysis of NGS experiments and the development of new assays. The main pillar of top-notch diagnostics at Labor Berlin is the timely translation and validation of applicable research methodologies into the clinical routine to improve patient care.
