ABOUT JOHANNA CAPONE

I am a second year master\'s student in Civil Engineering at Virginia Tech with an undergraduate major in Civil Engineering and minor in Spanish. My past and current experiences include a research internship at Pacific Northwest National Lab, graduate research assistantship at Virginia Tech, and land development internships at Colliers and Dynamic Engineering. Most recently, I returned from Australian National University where I worked as an occupational trainee studying limitations and future opportunities for water resources planning models. After graduation, I am seeking a full-time job that would enable me to implement integrated, systematic solutions to complex engineering problems. I look forward to applying past experiences in water management and modeling while learning new, challenging skills. My research interests center around the 1) social, economic, and land use drivers of water demand, 2) types and progression of water conservation measures, and 3) gaps and opportunities for socio-environmental systems modeling. I approach water management through an integrated planning lens, seeking to better align water demand with available supplies.
