ABOUT JOHAN MARTINEZ

As Senior Accounting Manger at SoundExchange, I oversee a team and manage critical accounting functions, including royalty collections/distributions, investments, leases, fixed assets, capitalized software, intercompany transactions, and consolidated financial reporting for external audit requirements.As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in technical accounting (US GAAP), I provide guidance on financial statement preparation, new accounting standards, and process improvements. My expertise extends to managing relationships with financial institutions, implementing enhanced internal controls, and optimizing operational efficiency. I am passionate about leveraging my technical knowledge and leadership skills to drive accuracy, streamline processes, and support organizational growth. With a proven ability to balance hands-on accounting work and strategic oversight, I deliver value through continuous improvement and fostering collaborative, development-focused teams.Previously, I worked as an Audit and Assurance Senior Manager at Cherry Bekaert where I led and managed attestation engagements for privately held and SEC filing entities primarily in the hospitality/retail, technology, and professional services industries. I acted as a trusted advisor to clients, business partners, stakeholders, and prospects by understanding their business needs, identifying opportunities, and providing strategic and technical expertise to assist in realizing their operational objectives. In addition, I was involved in college recruiting and various firm-wide trainings, including a training rotation in Chennai, India for our Global Support Services team. Additionally, I assisted with annual firm internal inspection reviews over attestation engagements ensuring adherence to the firm\'s policies and procedures. Outside of work, I enjoy giving back to the community and the accounting profession. I previously served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of The Ryan Nece Foundation and previously served as a Board Member of the USF Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy Accounting Circle.
