As a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in the Asturias region of Spain, I support instruction at two secondary schools, working with students aged 12–17 across subjects including English, social studies, and science. My role focuses on language support, cross-cultural exchange, and helping create more dynamic, participatory classroom environments.Beyond leading and co-developing lessons, I collaborate with local teachers to integrate creative, student-centered approaches that encourage curiosity and critical thinking. I also engage with the broader school community by organizing extracurricular activities and opportunities related to American culture and global citizenship.This experience continues to sharpen my communication skills, cultural fluency, and understanding of educational systems, all of which I aim to bring into a future career in education and policy. Most importantly, it deepens my commitment to learning as a shared, lifelong process.

The Commission on Cultural, Educational and Scientific Exchange between Spain and the United States of America was established in Spain in 1958 by a mutual agreement between the two countries. Since then it has been recognized as the Fulbright Commission and administers grants under the same name. Over the course of time, the Fulbright Program has become the recognized name of this agreement of cultural and educational cooperation between the United States and the participating countries. Spain is one of the countries that takes part in this program through the Commission. The Commission is formed by representatives from the two countries and co-chaired by a high-level member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation and another from the United States Embassy in Spain.
