ABOUT JOEY BARNETT

Hello! I’m Joey Barnett—pleased to meet you. A little about me: I’m a highly motivated professional with a passion for government and public policy. Throughout my career, I’ve focused on building and refining systems that help legislators succeed—whether that’s advancing legislation, strengthening constituent relationships, or managing the day-to-day operations of a legislative office. I’ve had the opportunity to work for three State Representatives—first as an intern in Albany, NY, and now as a full-time legislative assistant in Nashville. My commitment to this field has led me to pursue a Master’s degree in Public Administration at Tennessee State University while working full-time at the Tennessee General Assembly. Through this program, I’ve developed a strong foundation in policy research, human resources practices, and project management—skills that continue to shape my professional growth. Outside of my legislative work, I serve as a Board Member for Borderless Arts Tennessee, a statewide nonprofit that provides children, teens, and young adults with special needs a platform to express themselves through visual art, music, and dance. One of my proudest accomplishments is earning the rank of Eagle Scout at age 17. My experience in Scouting continues to influence who I am today, and I strive to live by the principles of the Scout Law in both my personal and professional life.
