About Joseph Washington

From 7nm FinFET transistor design to Big Data Analytics to my current role as Cognitive Data Scientist at IBM, I\'ve had the honor of working with the most incredible people on the most challenging problems. I\'m enjoying my current role which allows me a lot a latitude to transform the way IBM does business using machine learning tools (in and outside of the Watson suite), cloud application deployment experience, Hyperledger Fabric Blockchain, and agile methods.My sweet spot is using Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Physics and Statistical methods to unearth insights from structured and unstructured data sources to create new processes or applications leading to wide impact solutions and big value for organizations. Recently, I\'ve become convinced that machine learning embedded in smart contracts (ie smart participants in blockchain network) will be a key component in a >>$100 Billion enterprise blockchain market. I love it.At the same time, I like people. So I gravitate towards roles in teams where I can use clear communication and interpersonal skills to serve in team leadership and to effectively reach across organizations or business units to provide guidance based on the insights we find from data. This is how I was able to lead the Junction UP Team in IBM Research to provide dopant activation & diffusion processes that exceeded performance targets in 10nm, and 7nm Si / SiGe FinFET devices; in collaboration with the Integration team, we eventually revamped all FEOL thermal processes.

I\'ll be focused on enterprise platforms that serve our legal team, like Onit and Sirion, that are central to IBM\'s legal business process transformation, where we can improve legal user journeys through these platforms with AI and Automation.I\'m passionate about leveraging emerging technologies to create enterprise-scale value while driving innovation.
