ABOUT JOE MARAIS
I began my career as an Occupational Hygienist working in some of the toughest and dirtiest environments of a South African steel mill — an experience that shaped my resilience, work ethic, and problem-solving mindset from day one.From there, I transitioned into consulting, broadening my technical expertise while developing strong client-facing and commercial skills. In 2014, I relocated to the UK, continuing my journey in Occupational Hygiene Consulting before joining a global leader in the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) industry.Over time, I discovered a deep passion for the commercial and strategic side of consulting, which led me into progressive leadership roles. These positions allowed me to combine technical knowledge, commercial strategy, and people leadership, ultimately culminating in my role as Commercial Manager, with responsibility for £2M in annual revenue.What drives me most is finding practical, mutually beneficial solutions — for clients, teams, and businesses alike. I thrive on building strong relationships, unlocking opportunities, and creating sustainable value.Equally important to me is helping others grow. Supporting people to become the best version of themselves — both professionally and personally — sits at the heart of my leadership philosophy.
